PRIVACY
All AI inference runs on-device using Apple Intelligence. No air quality summaries, queries, or personal data are sent to any server beyond the air-quality API request itself.
DATA
Air quality data is provided by the U.S. EPA AirNow, Singapore NEA, or OpenAQ (a nonprofit aggregator of reference monitors).
Air quality values, forecasts, and health messages come directly from official monitoring stations near your location.
Version History Fresher, more trustworthy readings everywhere.
Smog Report now builds each location's air quality from the nearest monitoring stations that are actually reporting, taking the most recent reading for each pollutant. Readings that are out of date are no longer shown at all, so the number on your screen reflects the air now rather than the last time a station happened to report.
Fixes a bug that could show "Unable to Load Data" instead of air quality for locations where the nearest EPA monitors are not currently reporting. Where EPA monitors have a gap in coverage, Smog Report now falls back to the OpenAQ global monitor network so you still get a reading, and credits OpenAQ on the About screen when it does.
These improvements apply everywhere the app shows air quality, including home screen widgets, the Apple Watch app and its complications, Siri and Shortcuts, and background alert checks.

version 2.8
posted on 2026-08-29
Version History Fresher, more trustworthy readings everywhere.
Also: a hiccup loading the forecast no longer blanks the whole card - current conditions keep showing. 2.8 5d ago • Minor updates and refinements throughout.

WORLDWIDE COVERAGE via OpenAQ (worldwide) + Singapore NEA (Singapore) alongside EPA AirNow (U.S.).
THE RIGHT LOCAL INDEX, AUTOMATICALLY
• U.S. → U.S. EPA AQI
• UK → DAQI (1–10)
• EU → European Common AQI (1–6)
• Canada → AQHI
• Singapore → PSI
• India → NAQI
• Korea → CAI
• Australia / New Zealand → AU AQI
You can also pick any scale from Settings → AQI Scale.
22 LANGUAGES
The full app, widgets, Live Activities, and Apple Watch app are now translated into 22 languages including Arabic, Chinese (Simplified + Traditional), French (France + Canada), German, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Spain + Latin America), Swedish, and more.
OTHER IMPROVEMENTS

• AQI gauge now displays your selected scale's native value (no more clamping non-US data to the EPA scale).
• Settings → AQI Scale lets you override the country default.
• Pollutant names are localized.
• Live Activities and widgets all pick up the active scale.
• Background refresh routes through whichever data source matches each saved location's country.
• Meet UV Report, our new sun-safety companion app — find it under "More from us" in Settings
PRIVACY (unchanged)
Your location is sent only to the data source for your country (AirNow / OpenAQ / Singapore NEA), never to a server we operate. No account, no tracking SDK. 2.6.2 2d ago v2.6.1 — Worldwide Air Quality
